We're partnering with a Portland, OR technology firm to recruit their next Design Director on a permanent basis. You'll play a pivotal role on the executive team, growing, managing and supporting a team of UX/UI and traditional design staff. You'll be a working manager, scoping projects with team members and getting your hands dirty in day-to-day new projects and maintenance. To be a fit, you'll bring 10+ years of blended design experience, with an emphasis on digital and visual design work. Pay is highly competitive and flexible for the right person. You will:

  • Help build and grow a diverse design team, helping to attract the best designers and mentoring them
  • Represent the design viewpoint and perspective at a leadership level, including shaping product and brand roadmaps and leading creative strategy
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the organization to prioritize design projects and create best practices, standards, etc.
  • Support engineering and leadership teams in scoping new products; Provide updates and insight on existing products
  • Develop UX/UI and traditional design projects from concept to implementation 
  • Your profile should include:

  • 10+ years of visual design experience, ideally with strong UI/UX and traditional experience
  • Team leadership experience, including hiring, mentoring, etc.
  • A clean and technical design aesthetic - please include a link to a visually pleasing and easily navigated digital portfolio
  • A wide array of creative skill and experience; You describe yourself as a creaitve "Jack or Jill of All Trades"
  • Excellent technical aptitude; Adobe CC mastery
