We are partnering with a Clackamas, OR non-profit in the environmental science and sustainability field in their search for a Communications Coordinator to join their team on a contract basis. This is an ongoing contract opportunity with the potential to convert to a permanent role. You'll be responsible for supporting all internal and external communications efforts, and will be tasked with handling writing and editing efforts for communications materials. You'll also take on some light design work, event planning and attendance duties, and general support work for the department as needed. Passion for the mission is the most important component in this hire, along with at least a year of relevant experience. If you have experience in the environmental sciences, government or with a relevant non-profit, we'd love to hear from you! This role sits onsite full time and will pay between $18 and $20 an hour, depending on experience. You'll be able to bring your passion for conservation into the day-to-day of this role and will find opportunity to learn and grow with the experts.

You will:

  • Create, write and edit internal and external communications content; Projects may include: social media content, fliers, mailers, pamphlets, internal and external newsletters, etc.
  • Work closely with environmental teams to distill and share data in formats tailored to internal and external audiences
  • Edit existing documents, web pages, and informational materials to update information using Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to plan community outreach efforts, projects and events
  • Assist with the development and implementation of public involvement, outreach and communications plans – including identifying target audiences, communications tools, and outreach goals
  • Support the department and other teams in customer outreach and support, as needed
  • Your experience should include:

  • 1+ year(s) of professional communications experience
  • Experience in one of the following, required: Environmental sciences or conservation, government or public sector, sustainability
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (English, Communications, Environmental Science), required
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, primarily for editing and formatting documents and fliers
  • Proficiency with Salesforce or similar database software and WordPress, preferred
  • Outgoing and friendly personality - this role interacts with cross-functional teams, clients and the public
