Senior Writer/Editor/Content Developer/Proofreader with Corporate, Not-for-Profit and Agency Experience
Available For:
All types of positions.
Ideal Position:
I like to be challenged to produce superior Web or print content. This requires bright people, proud of their product and resourced with information, technology and clear goals. The ideal position means functioning as part of a staff committed to upholding its brand -- with every decision made, every problem solved, and every deadline met. The ideal environment is one in which bright people pursue a shared vision, supported and encouraged by their managers. As long as that level of trust and respect is present, it does not matter whether the culture is polo shirts and jeans or suits and ties.
Past Experience:
I communicate and I train. Communicating means organizing and transmitting facts; for example, writing about food safety, healthcare, or technology. I also produce training media, meaning I impart skills by creating and teaching components reinforced with assessment tools. I have done both for firms including a leading global information services provider, as well as companies in the finance, education and information technology industries.
Currently:
I research, write and edit the online weekly news for a food-science institute. Topics include food safety, new threats such as antibiotic-resistant bacteria, price increases for food and ingredients, new-product introductions and consumer preferences in terms of taste and health benefits. My content is read by as many as 200,000 professionals.
I am fascinated by language and how it can be used to communicate, analyze and educate. The Web is a phenomenal tool, provided written content is to-the-point and fully integrated with visual and audio elements. And there is still a place for the print piece or publication, which also demands that the writer and editor apply skill and precision.
