Ideal Position:
Although I have extensive experience managing creatives I mostly enjoy the work itself. I am a strong believer in the classic art-director writer team and have worked with numerous outstanding copywriters. I do most of my work on a laptop so I can create anytime and anywhere. I enjoy a creative environment. I take pride in my problem solving ability and welcome assignments that demand strategic thinking. As a freelancer I have had extensive client contact and find that it is an invaluable way to arrive at a mutually satisfying solution. Although my experience is as an art director, I am equally at home writing copy.
Past Experience:
My background includes a wide range of products in consumer, B2B and healthcare advertising. I began my career in New York and have also worked in Seattle as well as Chicago. Starting as an art director, I rose to the position of creative director before starting all over again when I opened my own business. My biggest thrill was meeting Hal Riney.
Currently:
The recent work I'm proudest of is my involvement with Safe Start. This is a project for children who have witnessed violence. I created an animated character who teaches the kids how to deal with their trauma. This program has been seen throughout the greater Chicago area and has won several awards. I have also worked for local environmental groups. I am primarily a print art director, but I am also very familiar with Dreamweaver and Flash. To me the web is challenging, fascinating and at times extremely frustrating. But I've found that the principles of good design and strategic thinking transcend all media. I am always looking for new challenges and am always willing to learn.
