Paladin New York Candidate
Proofreader with Corporate, Not-for-profit, and Agency Experience
Available For:
All types of positions.
Ideal Position:
Ideally I would like to be a full-time proofreader in a corporate marketing department or advertising firm, but I am open to short-term and freelance as well, in any work environment. I enjoy fast-paced, high-volume work that keeps me very busy! I also appreciate variety and like jobs that require skills other than the main one of proofreading.
My ideal work environment is busy! I love to work and hate to be bored. I love the detail and concentration proofreading requires, so the more the better. I like tackling long, detailed, difficult projects. I have worked in very "corporate" environments and more casual environments, and enjoy both. The work is what matters!
Past Experience:
My background is academic and I have several publications to my credit. I have taught college-level classes, but I have mostly worked in the business world as a proofreader, writer, and editor.
My most relevant work experience is ten years as a professional proofreader in both corporate and non-profit, high-volume, fast-paced work environments.
Currently:
My most recent long-term position was staff writer for a non-profit art foundation. My primary project was to write and edit a major book on the Foundation's art collection, which was published in 2008. My most recent agency job was proofreading for a life insurance company--advertising materials, legal documents and in-house communications.
I have an academic background that has provided me with many skills besides proofreading--writing, editing, researching, and problem-solving. I am versatile and quick to learn, and would be a great asset to any company.
