Ideal Position:
I prefer having one-year contracts with an agreed-upon amount of editorial production. I often generate my own story ideas once I get to know the client. I am also eager and willing to take on assignments with short turnaround times.

I have been working from home since 1991, and, barring the unforeseen, I plan to continue doing the brunt of my work there.

Past Experience:
I have been a communications specialist with emphasis on writing since 1970 when I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism at San Jose State. I have been earning my living as a freelance business writer since 1991, mostly serving the insurance beat.

Currently:
Currently, I am paid to crank out articles for insurance industry clients. I've written a half-dozen articles in the last few months on insurance topics assigned by my client contact.

I have a "can do" attitude about editorial work. I get paid for doing the job right, regardless of the amount of time it might take. That means that I usually get paid by the assignment, by the month or by the year and not by the hour. The upshot: I watch my work, not the clock.
