Ideal Position:
I've had great experiences and challenges as a single Art Director for a company as well as being part of a creative team. Ideally, I only wish to be surrounded by inspiration from others that aids me in daily creative problem solving.
My dream project would be to design a style guide for a really big film or an animated feature.
Ideal Environment:
I like an environment where the egos are left outside and creativity is shared and not fought about. It also helps to have a Mac that's fully loaded! I would also enjoy the opportunity to work with licensed based projects and entertainment design. I've had the most fun with the kind of work where I'm given a style guide and I just run with it!
Past Experience:
I've been an Art Director and Problem Solver for many years. I've worn many creative hats in the Dallas and Plano areas. When I started in 1990, we were still drawing with markers and sending out for type. Since then, I've become a Digital Illustration junkie hopelessly hooked on Photoshop, but it's still fun to get out a simple pencil and draw.
Currently:
One of the most rewarding projects that comes to mind was re-ineterpreting a presentation created to sell James Bond premiums to Shell. The existing presentation didn't hit the mark and I was tasked with overhauling the design. The result was a successful sale of premiums to Shell in the UK, as far as I know, they're still selling today!
Additional Notes:
I especially enjoy using new and unconventional methods to achieve different ways of looking at design. By this I mean reinventing the familiarity of a design and breathing new life into it.
I also pride myself on being highly organized with dedicated attention to detail.
Lastly, my motto: "If I can amaze myself, I can amaze anyone."
