Ideal Position:
My ideal position would be one where I could help people in a meaningful way. For example, I'd love to work for a large company that caters to small businesses. I'd also enjoy serving in a management/mentoring role again. And I love little details, so anything that calls for intense focus a keen eye is right up my alley.
My ideal environment is one where there's a good balance of seriousness and humor. I like to be around easy-going people, but it's equally important to me that they also be focused on: 1) getting the job done, 2) doing it right the first time, and 3) getting it done on or ahead of schedule.
Past Experience:
The bulk of my experience has been in direct marketing creative. I worked for both agencies and in-house, and became a whiz at writing DM letters, newsletters, brochures and e-mails. However, I have derived significantly more enjoyment from my recent experience in sales, which has allowed me to develop one-on-one relationships with my customers.
Currently:
My most recent role has been that of sales associate with a bridal shop. I love meeting each new bride and helping her find her perfect gown. I've also enjoyed being able to help the store's owners build their business and its reputation.
Additional Notes:
I'm proud to say that the words "that's not my job" have never been part of my vocabulary. I will happily go the extra mile for an employer when I know they will appreciate the effort. For example, on my days off, I sometimes network with other wedding-related businesses in the area.
