Ideal Position:
The perfect job is one that requires heavy-duty headline concepting and copywriting for brand or retail advertising in print, broadcast or web media. I love brainstorming to help determine underlying strategy. It's always a thrill to give compelling presentations to current clients or demonstrate capabilities to potential new clients.
My values include intelligence, integrity and camaraderie. I prefer people who share my Midwestern work ethic, and who give every project their very best. As a creative, I'm most comfortable in jeans and tennis shoes.
There's a sweet spot I usually hit, by managing to delight co-workers, bosses and clients all at the same time. I genuinely adore advertising, and I'm lucky that my passion for wrangling language allows me to work with such smart, funny, creative people.
Past Experience:
I've been a copywriter, a creative director and even a senior vice president, working on national brands for agencies big and small. I've also taught professional concept and copywriting classes at the college level. Client categories include wireless, finance, restaurant, ATVs, cable TV, pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Currently:
My most recent position was managing partner of the West Coast branch of a start-up office for a national ad agency. As senior VP/creative director, I developed and staffed the creative, studio and production departments and played a key role in winning new business. In just 8 years, the office quadrupled in size and reached $10 million in revenue.
