Communications Consultant with Corporate, Not-for-profit and Agency Experience

Ideal Position:
I am seeking a long-term contracting position where I work from home and attend meetings on-site, on occasion. My second ideal opportunity would be a permanent, full-time job which allows telecommuting at least 2 days a week. I work very effectively from home, and as a writer, I feel that the solitude yields a far better work product.

I am looking for a highly intellectual and professional culture with a generosity of spirit and a lack of petty attitudes. Associates take pride in their work and are not afraid to make mistakes, and when they do, they own those mistakes and move on. I would prefer an office setting outside of a major city, though location is not important if I am primarily working from home.

Past Experience:
I have been involved in employee and benefits communications since joining a chemical company in 1988. In 1994, I was a freelance writer for local Chicago businesses and The Chicago Tribune. In 1995, I joined an HR consultancy as a Benefits Communications Consultant, working with Fortune 500 clients to plan and execute employee communications programs.

I am energetic and friendly with a caring nature and little ego. I work well with people, I'm a natural leader, and I enjoy a challenging work environment. In addition, I'm an Accomplished Toastmaster and relish the opportunity to speak in public, to educate or train an audience.

Currently:
I'm working with a major distributor of medical supplies in Pennsylvania on one of their employee newsletters. This involves interviewing key management, crafting articles, working with the various business owners to gain approval of the articles, and working with a designer on a layout.
