Paladin Chicago Candidate
Proofreader/Copy Editor/Quality Control
Available For:
All types of positions.
Ideal Position:
My dream job is one that would allow me to help writers communicate with readers. As a "guardian of the language," any work that I do would be in an effort to help the client shine, from the smallest print ad to a complex Web site. Employers know that they can count on me to be the last pair of eyes that sees their final product.
Ideal Environment:
I'm a team player who comes to work to work. However, I need to be around others who can also be laid back and laugh at "Office Space" or Dilbertisms. As a baby boomer, I have fond memories of crazy '80s and '90s work environments, but I much prefer today's casual yet intensely productive offices.
Past Experience:
I have proofed and edited nationally run advertisements, med/pharma Web sites, Fortune 500 annual reports, elementary education through high school-level textbook pages, cookbooks, catalogs, magazines, marketing pieces, and of course countless menus (unrealized by restaurants ... only as a sport)
Currently:
My recent role as editor of a locally printed quarterly publication has allowed me to take on feature writing, along with my long-standing responsibility as copy editor and proofreader. Because of the publication's small staff, I have enjoyed the opportunity to handle more jobs and be more involved in all aspects of production.
Additional Notes:
Ever met a hockey-playing proofreader? Now's your chance!
