Advertising Copywriter
Available For:
All types of positions
Ideal Position:
My ideal opportunity is a long-term freelance position where I can collaborate with team members, but also have the freedom to work from home. Though I thrive on the agency atmosphere, I often do my best work when I'm holed up in a quiet corner, just me, myself and my computer.
Ideal Environment:
I love an environment where creativity is encouraged and all ideas are valued. Deadlines are a necessity, but should be realistic. I also value an environment where team collaboration is expected, but there's also room to create independently.
Past Experience:
I have served as a freelance writer for several years, and am currently Senior Writer (part-time/contract) for a design firm in Raleigh, NC. I've written for all genres--websites, print, collateral, broadcast--and also have production experience (I was Associate Broadcast Producer at a large Raleigh-based agency several years ago).
Currently:
My most recent project was a 16-page brochure for a marina on the Carolina coast. The brochure intertwined two voices--half the copy discussed marina amenities, while the other half was much more poetic, from the POV of a boater journaling...with descriptions of his approach across the ocean toward the marina, and his ponderings of life along the way.
Additional Notes:
I love writing...all types, all genres. But I feel my particular strength is in the shorter pieces--headlines, tags, print, and especially, radio. (I like the longer pieces too!) I also have good intuition, and as long as the target market and context of the project are explained, then I find it relatively easy to slip into the audience's shoes.
