Paladin is in search of a Production Artist for global marketing agency located in West Chicago. The ideal candidate is a technician at heart, with basic design sense to handle simple graphic projects independently or with minimal direction.
Location: West Chicago (on-site, 40 hours/week)
Rate: $30-$34/hr,
Contract Duration: 6 weeks
What you will do:
•Builds, maintains, and releases digital files for pre-press or other production hand-off from design team  
•Produces multiple versions of layouts and maintains all history of revisions  
•Maintains asset database on server, and uses consistent naming convention for assets  
•May maintain and improve agency file-management process and procedures Knowledge & Skills  
•Able to create accurate physical samples/mock-ups
•Produce multiple versions of direct mail packages or collateral using InDesign layers, master pages, Paragraph and Character Styles (Must keep all versions 100% organized, labeled and filed according to preset file-naming standards)
•Responsible for multiple rounds of revisions to files based on input from the Creative Director, Art Director, Copywriter or Account Executive
•Works closely with design team to implement changes in a timely manner
•May maintain and improve agency file-management process and procedures
What you need to have:
•Bachelor’s degree preferred + 3-5 years of relevant experience  
•Experience in production is a must; with direct mail, mastery of print collateral, email, digital design, web graphics, sales promotion and dimensional printed materials is a plus.
•Requires a high degree of focus and extreme diligence in handling detail, typography and creating 100% accurate page layouts
•Exceptional photo/image retouching skills
•Must be an expert at electronic file management
•Must know how to save files to a server, upload files to FTP sites, and follow proper file naming conventions
•Uses working knowledge of both digital production for web versus print production (2C to 4C print process to properly set up electronic files for reproduction)  
•Must fully understand digital printing, offset printing and web printing, and know the distinctions in file preparation for various printing processes Technical Requirements  
•Have full understanding of the graphic and photo reproduction process to troubleshoot problematic graphics, photos, layouts and unexpected challenges prior to release
•Working experience in producing mockups for multi-page brochures, elaborate direct mail and POP artwork
•Understands and adheres to U.S. Postal regulations and press/production guidelines as they apply to direct mail Experience
